Then there’s the gas station and travel center, brimming with just about anything alien-themed you can imagine.

Gleaming in the desert sun like an actual spaceship itself, the Alien Research Center is a silver Quonset hut with a giant two-story silver alien ushering you in the door. Beam yourself inside for the latest alien apparel, hats, mugs, magnets, and so much more.

Despite its name, alien jerky is made right here on planet Earth, and some of the very best can be found at E.T. Fresh Jerky. Restock those road trip snacks, freshen up at the “cleanest restrooms in Area 51,” and snap a selfie with the cowboy alien murals out front for a pit stop you’ll never forget.

Black Mailbox

Hoping to have an extraterrestrial encounter of your own? This legendary Black Mailbox just might just be your chance. UFO hunters and the alien obsessed have been meeting at this storied Nevada landmark for decades, trying their luck at eyeing mysterious aircraft and leaving messages to other road trippers. Don't see a mailbox on your trip? Sadly, fame has a cost, and the Black Mailbox is a frequent target for vandalism. But Good Samaritans are known to replace it when they can, so check back again in the future.
